Kirra Galleries opened in 1997 and for more than a decade now, have focused on building the finest commercial exhibition galleries focussing on glass, sculpture and jewellery artworks in Australia. They now have an established reputation as leaders in the Australian Contemporary Art Glass Movement.
Kirra Galleries hold a number of exhibitions each year highlighting the incredible diversity of Australian art glass as well as works by artists working in a variety of different media.
Kirra Illuminating Glass Award (KIGA) - entries closing soon
The KIGA first prize is AU$15,000 and will be awarded for the best internally lit glass sculpture .
This award is being held in conjunction with Fed Square’s Light in Winter program and will take the form of free standing, suspended or wall mounted glass sculptures which are internally lit with globes or LEDs.
The KIGA is a non-acquisitive award, the prize is A$15,000 and the winner is to be announced at the opening of the exhibition on 3 June 2014. There will also be a Peoples’ Choice Award which will be judged following the opening. The winner will be announced on 17 June 2014 – the prize will be in the form of a trophy.
The key dates for the award are as follows:
10 February 2014 – entries and conceptual drawings to be submitted
24 February 2014 – successful entrants advised via email of their selection
7 May 2014 – professional photographs of selected works to be sent to Kirra Galleries for inclusion in the exhibition catalogue
26 May 2014 – completed work for KIGA to be delivered to Kirra Galleries
2 June 2014 – judging to take place
3 June 2014 – exhibition opening and winner announced
17 June 2014 – people’s choice award announced
30 June 2014 – exhibition closes
