Kirra Galleries opened in 1997 and for more than a decade now, have focused on building the finest commercial exhibition galleries focussing on glass, sculpture and jewellery artworks in Australia. They now have an established reputation as leaders in the Australian Contemporary Art Glass Movement.

Next Exhibition - Distant Horizons

Kirra Galleries has recently updated our website and we now have a facility where you can shop on line. It is perfect if you can't make it to the gallery – just go to kirragalleries.com, where you can view work by a particular artist or if you have a budget – you can select a price category. Payment can be made online and your purchase can be despatched to an address within the metropolitan areas of Australia within 24 hours and allow two to three days for regional areas.

After months of planning by Kirra Galleries, Federation Square and the selected finalists as well as days setting up, the inaugural Kirra Illuminating Glass Award was officially opened by Robyn Archer AO and the winner of the KIGA $15,000 award was presented to Robert Wynne by the Victorian Minister for the Arts, Heidi Victoria, for his beautiful piece, "Raven's Clutch".
The Minister for the Arts, The Hon. Heidi Victoria, presented Robert with a beautiful trophy made by Kristin McFarlane and a cheque for $15,000.

The judges had a very difficult task selecting the winner as the standard of entries was extremely high. The gallery was closed between 4pm and 6pm on opening day so that the judges; Robyn Archer AO, Grace Cochrane AM, Kate Brennan, Mathew Martin and Peter Kolliner OAM could make their selection.
The judges gave a special mention to Roger Buddle for his piece " Forest Fungi", Holly Grace for "Shelter-Horse Camp Hut", and Jason Sims for "Rise and fall II".

We would like to congratulate Rob on his win, but also thank all the finalists - it is a stunning display of internally lit glass sculptures. If you visit Fed Square during the next few weeks, please call in and enjoy the warmth and ambiance of the exhibition.

Kirra Galleries together with Fed Square Pty Ltd will launch the Kirra Illuminating Glass Award (KIGA) at 6.00pm Tuesday 3 June 2014. The KIGA exhibition will be opened by Robyn Archer AO and the winner will be announced by the Minister for the Arts, The Hon. Heidi Victoria at 6.30pm in the Atrium of Fed Square. The winner will take home a prize of $15,000.
You will be able to see a sneak preview of the exhibition on ABC Breakfast TV at 7.45am on Tuesday morning (3 June 2014). Tune in at 7.30am just in case they are early!!
