FLAME ON GLASS 2015 Our 13th annual overview of contemporary flame formed glass was very eloquently opened by Glass Artist Peter Minson on Thursday 10 September 2015. Each year the exhibition has grown – our first Flame on Glass in 2003 had 14 artists and this year there were 35 artists! The demonstrations held in the Atrium over the weekend were well attended and we have to thank the artists who gave up their time to spend time at the gallery educating the public on their artform. A huge thank you to Kathryn Chaston, Giselle Courtney, Cas Davey, Pauline Delaney, Mark Eliott, Dominic Garcia, Alistair Mead, Peter Minson, Craig Snell, Veronique Southan, and Kathryn Wardill for making the exhibition extra special. Also to those artists who came to the exhibition opening travelling vast distances – Su Bishop from Queensland, Kathryn Chaston who visited from the South Australian Border, Mark Eliott, Giselle Courtney and Peter Minson from New South Wales, Cas Davey from Castlemaine, Craig Snell from Western Australia, and Alistair Mead from New Zealand.

SOFA CHICAGO 2015 For the 12th consecutive year, Kirra Galleries exhibited at SOFA (Sculpture Objects Functional Art & Design) in Chicago. The show opened on Thursday 5 November and this year we exhibited the work of 12 Australian and New Zealand glass artists, Brenden Scott French, Kevin Gordon, Gerry King, Simon Maberley, Peter Nilsson, Harriet Schwarzrock, Tim Shaw, Crystal Stubbs, Yusuke Takemura, Zoe Woods, Robert Wynne and Ben Young. We were delighted that 8 of the artists joined us at the exhibition – a huge thank you to Brenden Scott French, Gerry King, Simon Maberley, Peter Nilsson, Harriet Schwarzrock, Tim Shaw, Robert Wynne and Ben Young for their help at the show – their help was invaluable. Once again we managed to secure a prominent position at the show – first booth on the left as people entered the exhibition hall; we received many positive comments on our booth and visitors to the show were very impressed by the standard of glass art from Australia and New Zealand.
